In celebration of Earth Day, the City of Middletown Public Works and Water and Sewer Departments are offering FREE shredding services to residents and small businesses on Saturday, April 28, 2012 from 9 to 11 a.m. Participants will be able to shred up to 10 boxes or bags of material.
Documents will be shredded on site. All shreddings will then be recycled in accordance with state and municipal laws.
The event is being sponsored by the City of Middletown Department of Public Works and Water and Sewer Department, the Middletown Resource Recycling Advisory Council and ProShred of Wallingford.
ProShred is able to offer state-of-the-art shredding trucks capable of destroying thousands of pounds of documents an hour!
Spring is the perfect time to clean out personal documents you no longer need and recycle them safely. Items that should be shreded include:
- Bank statements that are at least a year old and do not contain tax related information
- Pay stubs (after you receive your W-2)
- Credit card applications
- Any other documents that contain your social security number, account numbers, password or PIN information, birth information, private contact information or signature.
