9/11 Ceremony Being Held 7:30-10:30 a.m.

The City of Middletown, CT will be hosting a 9/11 memorial service to be held on September 11, 2011 at the South Green located at the corner of Main Street and Union Street.  The following is the proposed program of events.  Throughout this event, the name, rank, and assignment of each firefighter and police officer that died as a result of 9/11 will be read. 

  •  0730: police, fire, and emergency management apparatus lines up on Dingwall Dr
  • 0815: procession moves from Main Street and Dingwall Drive to the gazebo on the South Green
  • 0846: moment of silence to remember United Airlines flight 175 striking the WTC North Tower
  • 0847: Memorial service begins
  • 0902: Moment of silence to remember United Airlines flight 175 striking the WTC South Tower
  • 0937: moment of silence to remember American Airlines flight 77 striking the Pentagon
  • 0938: reading of the names of the firemen and policemen killed at ground zero
  • 1003: moment of silence to remember United Airlines flight 93 crashing in Pennsylvania after control had been wrested from the terrorists on board
  • 1030: Conclude memorial service

Please join us on September 11, 2011 as we honor those who gave the ultimate sacrifice.  All are encouraged to attend.
