Dr. Eckhart Honored for 40 Years as OB-GYN

The 70-year-old retired Durham resident was given an official citation from the Connecticut General Assembly for his service to the women and babies of the Middletown area.

 

State Rep. Joseph C. Serra, 33rd District officially recognized Dr. Kenneth L. Eckhart Jr., of Durham, 70, who recently retired from , at a ceremony at the hospital.

Eckhart was given an official citation from the Connecticut General Assembly for his nearly 40-year career as an OB/GYN and his service to the Middletown area.

According to a recent article in the Middletown Press, Eckhart delivered more than 5,000 babies during his medical career. The story says, "Over the course of his entire career, dating back to when he was student in medical school, Eckhart has delivered a total of 5,350 babies — 2,400 of them at Middlesex Hospital, he said. Every time he delivers a baby, he says, 'Welcome to Middletown.'”
