Council Asked to Approve New Police Chief Tonight

Acting Chief William McKenna's appointment by Mayor Dan Drew to head Middletown's officers will be decided upon at Monday's regular meeting.

Tonight, the common council will be asked to approve the mayor's confirmation of Capt. as Middletown chief of police.

If confirmed, McKenna's promotion will end a nearly three-year gap in official department leadership. Middletown hasn't had a permanent police chief since the city's first female head Lynn M. Baldoni retired in July 2009, after serving the city for 26 years.
