Bond Commission OKs Funds for Riverview, Connecticut Valley Hospital

Funding will help improve Riverview Hospital's fire sprinklers, elevator and electrical upgrades at CVH and state dams.

 

State Sen. Len Suzio applauded the state's approval of funding to finance infrastructure upgrades to and .

The State Bond Commission approved the following items during its April 27 meeting:

  • $350,000 to finance fire sprinkler system improvements and $180,000 to finance the replacement of flooring at Riverview Hospital
  • $304,790 to make elevator upgrades at Connecticut Valley Hospital's Woodward Hall and $485,705 to make electrical upgrades to CVH's power plant.
  • Funding to finance the design of repairs to state-owned dams that have been determined to be high or significant hazards, including the Connecticut Valley Hospital Dams, Middlefield.

"These projects will create dozens of construction-related jobs right here in Middletown," Suzio said. "At the same time, we will be addressing long-term needs at Riverview and CVH. We want to make sure that these facilities are as safe and secure as they can possibly be. This funding approval is very good news for our area."

Suzio represents Middletown, Middlefield, Cheshire, Meriden and Rockfall.
