No Trick: Mayor Moves Halloween to Sunday

Middletown's children will be knocking on doors this year on Nov. 6 — after October's freak snowstorm knocked out power to 94 percent of the city.

Halloween is getting a do-over.

Mayor Sebastian N. Giuliano has announced the spooky holiday is getting a second shot — after being nearly knocked off the calendar by a freak October snowstorm.

Giuliano has moved Halloween this year to Sunday, Nov. 6, in anticipation that power will be restored throughout the city.

The mayor said he appreciates the patience residents have shown with the storm and its resulting massive loss of power.

Many are hoping CL&P makes good on its pledge to restore power to 99 percent of customers by Sunday night. At 9:15 a.m. Friday, 15 percent of Middletown customers, 3,421, remain in the dark.
