Oxycodone Sting Yields Two Arrests

Two city residents have been charged in connection with an Oxycodone drug sting at a Cubeta Road housing project.

On Feb. 8, the Street Crime Unit executed a warrant at 37 Cubeta Road for Dhafir Amin after police received complaints from residents and the Middletown Housing Authority, including that there were children inside. The primary residents are Amin, 30, and Tamisha Thigpen, 30.

Police say Amin was arrested last week in Meriden and charged with possession of narcotics and with intent to sell of 40 mm Oxycodone.

Detectives saw Thigpen operating Amin’s Nissan Maxima west on Cross Street with Amin in the passengers seat. As the car stopped, Thigpen climbed over into the passenger’s seat and Amin climbed into the driver’s seat, the report says.

Detectives executed the search warrant at the house. The inside was in disarray, police say, with trash and food strewn throughout and a large pitbull in a cage. Inside detectives found 30 30-mg Roxicodone (Schedule II Narcotic) pills in an aspirin bottle.  

The Department of Children and Families was called for three children, ages 8, 4 and 1, were present while Amin conducted his sales. DCF's investigation is ongoing.

Amin was arrested and held on a $150,000 bond for: possession of narcotics and with intent to sell and within 1,500 feet of a housing project, three counts risk of injury to a minor and interfering with police.

Thigpen was released on a $10,000 non-surety bond for: interfering with police, operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license and three counts risk of injury to a minor.
