Two Middletown Police Officers Promoted

On Friday, Sgt. Richard Davis was pinned with the rank of lieutenant and Detective Daniel Smith rose to the rank of sergeant in a ceremony at city hall.

 

Two Middletown Police officers moved up a rank in a ceremony Friday at city hall council chambers. 

Sgt. Richard Davis, who has been with the department since 2000 and is the supervisor of the street crime unit, was promoted to the rank of lieutenant. Now that Davis, the police canine handler of K-9 Riko, has been pinned, his dog will be retired.

Detective Daniel Smith, who has been with the department since 2006 and assigned to the investigative services division, was promoted to sergeant.

Chief William McKenna and Mayor Dan Drew led proceedings in front of an audience filled with city employees, police and fire personnel, common council members and family and friends.
