PD: Parolee Tased Twice After Fleeing Girlfriend Street Attack

A Hartford man with a record of crimes reportedly punched his girlfriend more than 10 times on a busy street in Middletown.

A Hartford man who attacked his girlfriend on a busy street corner was stun gunned twice by officers after fleeing the scene, according to police.

On April 14 at 3:54 p.m., Joshua Pabon, 31, of Collins Street, Hartford, was on the corner of Pearl and Washington streets when witnesses saw him yelling at a woman who had a mark on her face and was crying, the report says.

When police showed up to stop him, Pabon became very nervous and fled toward Liberty Street with an officer in pursuit. The report says the officer Tased him and Pabon fell to the ground but scrambled up so the officer hit him with a baton. He resisted arrest still, the report says, so the officer Tased him a second time.

A witness said Pabon had grabbed the woman by the hair earlier and punched her more than 10 times; Pabon said it was his girlfriend and admitted to only hitting her once, the report indicates. She told police he became angry when she refused to go to her apartment with him.

He is on parole, the report says, for disorderly conduct, possession of narcotics/marijuana, interfering with an officer, second-degree sexual assault, violation of probation and risk of injury to a child.

Pabon was charged with interfering with an officer and third-degree assault.
