State Police to Continue Checkpoints, Patrols This Weekend

Cops' holiday enforcement still in effect through New Year's Day.

Even though jolly old St. Nick has headed back north for another year, Connecticut State Police are continuing Operation S.A.N.T.A. (Stop Another Needless Tragic Accident), their statewide enforcement push to help prevent accidents and injuries.

This Combined Accident Reduction Effort (C.A.R.E.) involves all state police departments across the U.S. The focus is on driving behaviors that most frequently cause accidents, but police will also be looking for those who are driving under the influence, speeding or not wearing seat belts.

If you are planning to consume alcohol at a festive event, make plans in advance for a non-drinking driver to bring you home. If you spot a suspected drunk driver, call 911 and report it to the police.
