Shoplifters Caught at Stop & Shop Filching $380 in Groceries, Police Say

TWO COUNTS SECOND-DEGREE AND ONE COUNT FIRST-DEGREE FAILURE TO APPEAR — On Aug. 4, John E. Marchinkowski, 44, of no certain address was found in the 100 block of Liberty Street during a search and seizure warrant.

SIXTH-DEGREE LARCENY — On Aug. 4 at 1:03 p.m., Leroy Gillespie, 51, of Warwick Street was at Rite Aid on Main Street, caught by loss prevention concealing a box of Fixodent worth $10 in his pocket after picking up a prescription. Police found his name in the pharmacy. He turned himself into police at 3 p.m.

SIXTH-DEGREE LARCENY — On Aug. 4 at 3 p.m., Special Butler, 22, of College Street and Kyle Young, 21, of Country Club Road were at Stop & Shop on East Main Street. They were seen on camera leaving the store with $379.79 worth of merchandise. Both admitted to having a drug problem and apologized. Both were charged.

SECOND-DEGREE FAILURE TO APPEAR — On Aug. 4 at 11 a.m., Lakrysha Walker of deKoven Drive turned herself in on an outstanding warrant.

VIOLATION OF PROBATION — On Aug. 4, Denise M. Redente, 50, of Liberty Street was found on the 100 block of Liberty with multiple outstanding warrants.

USE OF DRUG PARAPHERNALIA, BREACH OF PEACE — On Aug. 4 at 4:49 p.m., Gary Roundtree, 48, of Labella Circle was at the 600 block of Main Street on the report of a black male with a pink comb in his hair harassing people. He was found by police flailing his arms while seated at 615 Main, yelling at passersby. He then followed a man and placed his hand on his shoulder, as the man tried to get away. About 10 people yelled for police to “take him away.” A pat-down revealed a glass smoking pipe and he admitted smoking crack cocaine.

OPERATION MOTOR VEHICLE WITH SUSPENDED LICENSE, FAILURE TO GRANT RIGHT OF WAY — On Aug. 1, Robert Budnick, 55, of Hanover Street, Meriden, was at the scene of a car accident on Washington Street.

DUI, FAILURE TO CARRY MINIMUM INSURANCE, FAILURE TO DRIVE AT REASONABLE DISTANCE — On July 30, Miranda Junk, 31, of Cumberland Avenue, Wethersfield, was at Washington and Main streets, when the car in front of hers stopped abruptly. She got out of the car and almost fell on the ground, had slurred speech and was disorientated. She repeatedly stumbled toward traffic despite being told to stay in her car. She failed three sobriety tests. She admitted to taking different prescriptions throughout the day.

TWO COUNTS USE OF DRUG PARAPHERNALIA — On July 29, Barbara Yockachronis of Glastonbury Turnpike, Portland, was found with two plastic straws with heroin residue after a motor vehicle stop on Main Street in Portland.

FAILURE TO CARRY MINIMUM INSURANCE, OPERATING UNREGISTERED VEHICLE, AND IN VIOLATION OF LICENSE CLASSIFICATION — On July 24, Sergio Mijares, 47, of Main Street was arrested after a motor vehicle stop.

SECOND-DEGREE FAILURE TO APPEAR — On July 21, David Kington, 23, of Madison Avenue, Hartford, was stopped on Main Street and found with an outstanding warrant.
