The accused left his cell phone in the car after cutting himself and bleeding in the vehicle while trying to break in, police said.

Not Quite Without a Trace


The case: Police charged a Southington man with third-degree burglary and carrying a dangerous weapon after he attempted to break into a car, police said.


The twist: The accused cut himself while trying to shatter the car window with brass knuckles, police report, and left both his cell phone and a sizeable amount of blood in the car. Officers answered an incoming call on the cell phone and were able to track down the suspect after he fled the scene, according to police.

The case: Police charged a Norwalk woman with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of drugs/alcohol, failure to drive in the proper lane, failure to bring motor vehicle to a full stop, engaging in police pursuit, evading responsibility, failure to carry registration and an insurance ID card and reckless driving, police said.

The twist: The woman drove into two cars, including a police vehicle, while driving under the influence early in the morning on July 7, police report. The collision with the police car caused her vehicle’s fender and license plate to fall off at the scene, according to police.


‘Textual’ Harassment?


The case: Police charged a Suffield teenager with second-degree harassment, according to police.

The twist: The 19-year-old was texting a girl with whom she used to be friends, when the former friend made a harassment complaint to law enforcement, police said. The victim called the texts an “annoyance,” according to police.


Carving Out Space for ‘Quality Time’


The case: Police charged a Stamford woman with second-degree assault, risk of injury to a minor and disorderly conduct, according to police.


The twist: The woman’s charges stemmed from a fight with her partner that began when she told him they didn’t spend enough quality time together, police said. The fight escalated, and the accused ending up cutting her partner with an eight-inch kitchen knife, police report.
