Police: Woman Found Sleeping With Car Running On Highway

Middletown Police report the following arrests.

Connecticut State Police, Troop F, reports the following arrest:

DUI, IMPROPER PARKING — On Aug. 20, Maureen S. Czaja, 51, of Summer Hill Road was parked at a 45-degree angle on the shoulder of the highway, with part of her car in the travel lane. The car was on and in drive. Czaja was asleep at the wheel. She failed sobriety tests and was taken to Troop F. There, she was found with an elevated blood-alcohol content.

THIRD-DEGREE ASSAULT, DISORDERLY CONDUCT, RISK OF INJURY — On Sept. 2 at 7:15 a.m., Martina Hutley, 44, of Main Street turned herself in on an outstanding warrant.

SECOND-DEGREE FAILURE TO APPEAR — On Sept. 1 at 3:05 p.m., Mark Reece, 27, of Boston Post Road, Old Saybrook, was arrested.

FIRST-DEGREE FAILURE TO APPEAR — On Aug. 31 at 3:15 p.m., Daniel A. Varela, 27, of Eastern Drive turned himself in on an outstanding warrant.

BREACH OF PEACE, INTERFERING WITH AN OFFICER — On Aug. 31 at 5:43 p.m. on Green Street, Debra O'Leary of Green Street said her ex, Dirk Falls, 48, of Bow Lane, showed up at a victim’s house, disturb the woman, with whom he’s had relations on and off for a year. He asked his girlfriend if Jaime McNeil, 33, who is homeless, could stay over. O'Leary became upset and slapped him in the face; he beat her up, causing scrapes and cuts on her arm, leg and neck. They were found later walking on deKoven Drive. On Sept. 1 at 9:34 p.m., Falls was on Court Street on the report of an assault between a black male and female. Police saw him swinging his arms around while talking. When handcuffed, Falls pulled his arms away, saying “I’m not doing anything. I’m not fighting.” Police knocked him to the ground and he tried to pull away, then tensed up his body. The officer punched Falls in the back of the head and placed a knee on his back to hold him down. O'Leary was standing a foot away when officers asked her to step away and lower her voice. She became belligerent, saying she not leaving until she gets her stuff from his pockets. She pushed the officer’s hand off her shoulder, turned around and put her face in his, saying “I ain’t going anywhere without my stuff.”

VIOLATION PROTECTIVE ORDER — On Aug. 31, Edward Grimes, 47, of Main Street was arrested.

RECKLESS DRIVING LESS THAN 85 MPH — On Aug. 30 at 4:30 p.m., Patrick O’Leary, 23, of Trolley Crossing was driving in a Jeep Cherokee and police saw him turn from Bartholomew onto East Mount Road, slide toward the cops, then speed off, fishtailing while accelerating. Police tracked him down a dirt road onto private property. He told police he drove down to look at power lines because of the hurricane outages to go four-wheeling on the power lines.

BREACH  — Aug. 29 at 10:05 p.m., Theodore R. Freeman, 44, of Long Hill Road, and Andrew M. Flynn, 24, of Pearl Street, were fighting at Mezzo Grill on Court Street. The bouncer said the white and black male left toward the parking arcade. The manager said one was upset staff kicked out his friend and spit at him while yelling and refused to leave. One grabbed a metal patio chair and swung it at the bouncer.

OPERATION OF MOTOR VEHICLE WITH SUSPENDED LICENSE, AND IN VIOLATION OF LICENSE, FAILURE TO CARRY MINIMUM INSURANCE — On Aug. 28, Jem Jordan, 24, of Otis Street, Hartford, was arrested after a motor vehicle stop for having no headlights.

THIRD-DEGREE ASSAULT, On Aug. 20, Michael Nard, 23, of Grand Street assaulted a victim, causing a cut above the eye, which he admitted.
