Police: Video Records Meriden Duo's Pomegranate Vodka Heist

Middletown Police report the following incidents.

Middletown Police report the following arrests:

VIOLATION OF PROBATION — On Aug. 9 at 12:20 p.m., Joseph R. Cannata, 27, of White Birch Bend, Portland, was found on the Arrigoni Bridge drunk and stumbling; he told police he was on the way home from the methadone clinic. He had an active warrant.

VIOLATION OF PROTECTIVE ORDER — On Aug. 9, police received a report from a resident of Glynn Avenue that Sok Kyu Yi, 64, of Main Street was harassing her by phone.

BREACH OF PEACE, THIRD-DEGREE ASSAULT — On Aug. 9 at 3 p.m., Shallesa Banks, 23, of Highland Avenue was in an argument with the father of her 3-year-old daughter after he showed up to pick up the girl with a new girlfriend. She ran after the victim and tried kicking him in the back; stood in his way then attacked him while he was in his car: grabbed his face and ripped the shirt of his back, leaving a 10-inch cut. She said the cut was unintentional and probably came from her ring.

SECOND-DEGREE CUSTODIAL INTERFERENCE — On Aug. 8 at 9:15 a.m., Christina Clemons, 30, of Miller Street turned herself into police.

FIRST-DEGREE CRIMINAL TRESPASS — On Aug. 7 at 9:49 a.m., Rachel F. Larkin, 29, of no fixed address was at the 100 block of Pearl Street during a burglary complaint. She had been told by the owner a month ago not to return to the property; she said she was aware of that but had no where else to go.

BREACH OF PEACE, SECOND-DEGREE THREATENING, THIRD-DEGREE CRIMINAL MISCHIEF — On Aug. 6, Christopher M. Poole, 35, of Boston Post Road, Old Saybrook, was picked up in Old Saybrook for multiple road rage warrants after he made a complaint to police.

OPERATION MOTOR VEHICLE WITH SUSPENDED LICENSE, AND UNREGISTERED — On Aug. 5, Michael J. Sciascia, 31, of Countryside Lane was driving south on Vine Street and failed to signal.

POSSESSION CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE, AND WITH INTENT TO SELL, AND WITHIN 1,500 FEET OF SCHOOL AND NON-STUDENT POSSESSING DRUG PARAPHERNALIA — On Aug. 4 at 6:45 p.m., Charles P. Dow, 50, of Liberty Street was at a home in the 100 block of Grand Street during the narcotics unit search and seizure warrant after an ongoing investigation. After forcing entry, officers found Dow, another man, an older woman and a second woman hiding in the shower in the bathroom. Dow was found with three outstanding warrants. He admitted to having heroin in his pocket and used needles; officers found a pill bottle with uncooked rice, four wax paper folds, $100 in cash and two glass smoking pipes in a dresser. Dow later admitted he sells heroin and gets his supply from Hartford; buys a half-stack (50 bags) for $200, buys them at $4 per bag and sells each for $10.

SIXTH-DEGREE LARCENY — On Aug. 4 at 12:11 p.m., police received a shoplifting call from Forest City Liquor on Main Street. Edward Watson, 46, of Mount Pleasant Street, Meriden, picked up a 750 ml bottle of Smirnoff Pomegranate Vodka, $20, picked up a bottle of beer and only pay for that. The video later showed him placing it down his pants. He was later found in the parking lot of Harbor Park. He told police he put the vodka in Russell Trombley’s backpack, age 45, of Grove Street, Meriden. He too was found at Harbor Park but denied any involvement. Officers found the bottle in the woods. Both were arrested, Trombley additionally for conspiracy to commit a crime.
