PD: Teen at Center of Large Fight Among High Schoolers Threatened Officers

Middletown Police were summoned to the Sons of Italy Hall on Court Street about a man with a weapon that was later determined to be a BB gun.

The following police reports come from the Middletown Police public information officer. Individuals named here reflect charges filed, never a conviction.

An 18-year-old was charged with threatening after a large Saturday night gathering of high school students erupted into several fights around the North End of the city, according to Middletown Police.

On Dec. 21 at 11:45 p.m., police were called by a woman saying a man waved a gun at her on Ferry Street then left, according to the report.

Soon after, police were called to the Sons of Italy Club on Court Street, outside a dance party, where a large group of high school kids were outside getting ready for a fight.

Tylon S. Hardy, 18, of Hubbard Street was among those gathered, police say, and warned to leave and not return. A BB gun, the report says, was found at the scene but the owner couldn't be found.

Shortly after, several 911 calls reported to dispatch about another fight on Ferry Street involving 30 to 40 teens and when officers arrived, they ran toward the Wharf Side Commons housing complex.

Again, the report says, when police left the scene, more 911 calls would follow about large fights. That happened several times, police say, until one officer saw Hardy allegedly instigating people and then yelling at detectives in front of Keagan's Irish Pub on Main Street.

Hardy was charged with disorderly conduct and interfering with an officer.

He has been arrested several times this year, police say, for assault, criminal mischief and intimidation-related offenses and has a protective order against him. On Sept. 18, Hardy fought with his mother then smashed multiple items throughout the apartment and threw a bicycle at his mother's car.
