Police Seek Help to Find Rapallo Ave Shooter

Middletown Police say a man who tried to break up a fight outside the Realto Cafe on Rapallo Avenue early Monday was shot in the hip: the suspect is at large.

Middletown Police are searching for the suspect in an overnight shooting outside a bar in the North End of town.

On May 7 at 1 a.m., Middletown Police officers responded to Rapallo Avenue on the report of shots fired. Officers found a victim, who was conscious and suffering from one gunshot wound to the hip. The victim was transported to Hartford Hospital for his injury, treated and released.

Officers later learned that an argument started outside the Realto Cafe on 50 Rapallo Avenue between two males. The victim tried to mediate to avoid the argument escalating and was subsequently shot by one of the males arguing, the report says. The suspect is described as a white or Hispanic male in his mid-20s to mid-30s.

He was wearing a plaid shirt and fled the scene in a light colored SUV, possibly a Ford, police say.
