Police Say Man Hit Son for Spilling Marijuana

Two children were left in dangerous conditions while their guardians went to a bar.

Middletown police arrested a couple Saturday after a man hit his 5-year-old son for spilling marijuana, according to NBC Connecticut.

Edward Salz, 37, and the child’s mother, Bobbi-Jo Lamont, 26, allegedly went to a bar for drinks and left two young children — the 5-year-old boy and his 3-year-old sister — alone in a home that contained drug paraphernalia, the New Haven Register reported.

Police were called to the apartment on Main Street sometime before 7:30 p.m. Saturday, after Salz allegedly hit his son in the head five times because the child spilled his father’s marijuana, according to the New Haven Register. Police arrested Salz and Lamont.
