UPDATE: Police Seek Two Suspects in Armed Robbery at Liquor Store

Middletown officers are seeking two masked men who entered Ghezzi's market at 6 p.m. Tuesday and made off with cash.

Middletown Police are searching for two men who robbed a Newfield Street liquor store at gunpoint Tuesday just before 6 p.m.

Two slender black men about 5-foot-5-inches tall entered Ghezzi's Package Store at 970 Newfield Street wearing cloth-type masks and hooded sweatshirts, police say.

One of the males had a black semiautomatic handgun and both screamed at the clerk, an elderly female, demanding money from the cash register, the report says.

The clerk opened the register and one of the men reached in and removed an undisclosed amount of cash, police say. As they left the store, one removed a bottle of liquor from the countertop.

Both men fled in an unknown direction. A canine was used to track the suspects, who had allegedly proceeded north then the scent ended abruptly.
