Police Release Pictures of Killingworth Bank Robbery

Armed suspects tied up customers and employees during Monday afternoon heist at the TD Bank on Route 81, police said.

Police on Tuesday released pictures of three men brandishing handguns robbing .

The Connecticut State Police also confirmed that the masked gunmen tied up employees and patrons, forcing them to lie on the ground while they stole an undisclosed amount of cash from the bank, located at 184 Route 81.

Sgt. Sal Calvo told Patch Monday the suspects fled the scene in a white Scion, which they then abandoned on Chittenden Road just around the corner. The Middletown Press has posted a picture on the vehicle on its website.

Police said there were no reports of injuries in the robbery.

Lt. J Paul Vance, state police spokesman, said the case remains under investigation and state police detectives continue to interview witnesses who were at the scene or may have been in the area of the bank robbery.

He said investigators are pursuing all leads stemming from the incident.

The format of this robbery shows notable similarities to a series of . On five separate occasions between October 2010 and early 2012, three to five men wearing masks and armed with guns robbed five different banks in Wallingford, Cromwell, Fairfield, Southbury and Orange.

When asked about a potential connection between the Killingworth robbery and the previous unsolved robberies, Vance said there’s no indication of a connection at the moment. But, he didn't rule it out as being part of the ongoing investigation.

“As of right now there’s no indication by investigators,” he said. “But, to be determined, it’d be wrong for me to say we’re going to look at all those things.”
