Police: Suspects Nabbed in Middletown TD Bank Robbery

An off-duty Guilford police officer witnessed the two suspects putting on masks and covering up their license plates before entering the bank.

Middletown police have arrested two suspects in connection to an armed robbery Monday of a TD Bank branch on Washington Street.

Police held a press conference at 2 p.m. to announce the two suspects are felons and have a combined tally of 40 arrests. 

Police are also crediting an off-duty Guilford police officer who was shopping in the Home Depot parking lot as having assisted in nabbing the suspects. Police said the Guilford officer witnessed the two suspects put on masks and cover up their license plates before entering the TD Bank.

Police said a gun was implied in the robbery.

The Washington Street branch of TD Bank in Middletown was robbed Monday morning, according to Middletown Police.

The robbery took place just after 9 a.m., an hour after the 911 Washington Street office opened, according to Middletown Police. It's unclear how much money was taken.

Detectives were still on scene just after noon, interviewing employees inside as police tape blocked off both entrances, frustrating some customers hoping to get their banking done on their lunch hour.

No further details were available however Capt. Gary Wallace will hold a press conference at 2 p.m. in front of police headquarters on Main Street.
