Police: Man Who Ate Gummy Vitamins at CVS Nabbed For Larceny

Middletown Police say a 41-year-old city man who admitted to taking anti-anxiety medication was acting strangely at the drugstore for two hours.

A 41-year-old city man was arrested on larceny charges after Middletown Police say he consumed a bottle of gummy vitamins at a drugstore and left without paying.

On Jan. 27, Todd M. Monington of Smith Street was at on the report of an unwanted person. He was seated in a chair in the pharmacy department, talking to himself and acting strangely, police say, for two hours.

An employee told officers Monington had taking a bottle of 500 mg calcium gummy vitamins valued at $12.99, started eating them and left the store without purchasing them.

He later came back inside the store and police found the bottle on the hood of a car parked outside. Monington looked to be “intoxicated some sort of drug,” the report says, as he was “wobbly and unsure of any answers he gave.”

Monington said he was waiting for a prescription then admitted he had taken Ativan earlier and volunteered to go to the hospital, the report details.

He was charged with sixth-degree larceny.
