A 27-year-old intoxicated city man faces a slew of charges after he allegedly strangled his girlfriend when she said she was leaving him.
On Sept. 1 at 9:36 p.m., Mark A. Predinger Jr., 27, of Park Place was at an apartment on Rome Avenue and fought with his pregnant girlfriend of two years. When officers arrived, the report says, they spotted him on the second-floor balcony and he ducked down, hiding from them, and ignored commands to reveal himself.
The victim, police say, was crying inside while Predinger sat on the bed.
The report says the victim, who is almost 9 months pregnant, said Predinger came home at 10 p.m. drunk and she packed her bags to leave him because he often gets violent in that state while drinking nightly.
Predinger became upset, the report says, and choked her, then punched a hole in the door and smashed a guitar to pieces. When officers arrived, she testified, he told her to be quiet.
He was charged with failure to comply with fingerprints, third-degree assault and criminal mischief, interfering with an officer and an emergency call, disorderly conduct, and second-degree strangulation.
