Police Investigating Body Found in River

Middletown police are investigating a body discovered in the Connecticut River near the Pratt and Whitney plant.

At 2:24 p.m. today, a private boater called Middletown police and reported that there appeared to be a body floating in the Connecticut River near the fuel dock behind the Pratt and Whitney complex on Aircraft Road, according to Middletown Police Sgt. Gary Wallace.

Responders from the Middletown Fire and Rescue units recovered the body of a deceased white male believed to be between the ages of 18 and 25, Wallace said. The individual was wearing blue jeans, a black T-shirt with a long-sleeved grey shirt over it and brown Timberland boots. He had short, dark-brown hair and a diamond stud earring in each ear, according to the police description.

The investigation is currently being handled by Middletown police detectives. The body of the unidentified male will be delivered to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Farmington, where the cause of death will be determined.
