Police: Higganum Man in City Car Accident BAC Over Twice Legal Limit

FIRST-DEGREE FAILURE TO APPEAR — On Aug. 26 at 7 a.m., Brian M. Rahrig, 49, of Eastern Drive turned himself into police on an outstanding warrant.

VIOLATION OF PROTECTIVE ORDER — On Aug. 25 at 8:45 p.m., Michael DiMauro, 24, of Aston Lane was in an argument with his girlfriend who was at his house. When she said she was leaving to meet friends for drinks, he started screaming and said she was not going. She called a friend who came over and the girlfriend got into the car. He said he didn’t want to go because he had to go to work early in the morning.

OPERATION OF MOTOR VEHICLE WITH SUSPENDED LICENSE — On Aug. 25, David Krywinski, 30, of Town Brooke Drive was driving behind a car stopped at Country Club Road and Middle Street and hit a car ahead of him, saying, “I pressed on the gas by mistake instead of the brake.”

SECOND-DEGREE FAILURE TO APPEAR — On Aug. 25 at 10:21 a.m., Joan Nivar, 26, of Ryer Avenue, Bronx, N.Y., turned himself into police on an outstanding warrant.

POSSESSION CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE, ILLEGAL SALE OF, AND DISTRIBUTION OF, POSSESSION OF DRUG PARAPHERNALIA IN A DRUG FACTORY — On Aug. 25, Leon J. Games, 23, of Andover Street, Hartford, was arrested on Ferry Street while in the driver’s seat of a car with a key in the ignition. A bag with off-white material, later tested as crack, was in the driver’s door compartment; a search revealed 13 wax bags with heroin inside.

SECOND-DEGREE FORGERY, TWO COUNTS OBTAINING DRUGS ILLEGALLY — On Aug. 25 at 7:30 a.m., Amanda L. DeMaio, 25, of Essex Street, Hartford, turned herself into police.

POSSESSION CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE, ILLEGAL SALE OF, AND DISTRIBUTION OF WITHIN 1,500 FEET OF SCHOOL, TRESPASS OF RAILROAD PROPERTY, SECOND-DEGREE FAILURE TO APPEAR — On Aug. 24 at 10:07 p.m., Leon G. James, 23, of Andover Street, Hartford, was fighting with a woman at the railroad property near Portland Street. A search revealed five bags of heroin. He was found with an outstanding warrant.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT, SIXTH-DEGREE LARCENY, RISK OF INJURY — On Aug. 24 at 10:30 a.m., Andre J. Morris, 37, of Main Street was driving east on Roberts Street with an outstanding warrant.

FIRST-DEGREE FAILURE TO APPEAR — On Aug. 24, Jerell A. Butler, 22, of Grand Street was walking north on Main Street with an outstanding warrant.

DUI, FAILURE TO SIGNAL PROPERLY — On Aug. 20 at 4:14 p.m., Theodore Lorenc, 67, of Boulder Dell Road, Higganum, was the drive of one of the cars in an accident on Washington Street and deKoven Drive. Police said he was unsteady and smelled of alcohol. He failed the sobriety test, saying he had been drinking that morning. His blood alcohol levels were .228 and .227.
