Police: Motorist's Car That Hit Middle School Bus was Unregistered

Connecticut State Police say a 53-year-old Meriden man nearly hit a Woodrow Wilson School bus carrying 13 students head-on.

 

The quick thinking of a school bus driver carrying 13 middleschoolers prevented a head-on collision after a 53-year-old Meriden men swerved into oncoming traffic, according to .

On Jan. 3 at 3:07 p.m., a Dattco bus driven by Zaikia Rosario of New Britain was traveling west on Route 66 in Middlefield when a Ford driven by Albert Daniels, 53, of Meriden, with one passenger inside, swerved into the path of the school bus for an unknown reason, hitting its passenger side, according to the report.

Rosario, whose bus was carrying 13 Woodrow Wilson Middle School students, tried to move into the left lane to avoid a head-on collision, the report says, but was unable to move far enough over. The Ford stopped 70 feet off the road. No injuries were reported and Daniels was charged with the above.

Daniels was charged with failure to drive in the proper lane and operating an unregistered vehicle.
