Police Catch Walgreens Robbery Suspect

The 48-year-old Middletown man, a convicted felon, was picked up at State Police in Westbrook for DUI less than a day after allegedly assaulting a cashier and stealing money.

A 48-year-old convicted violent felon is in custody after Middletown Police say he assaulted a cashier at the Washington Street Walgreen's Friday and stole an undetermined amount of cash.

On Saturday, Robert Fontaine of 400 Washington Street was being held by State Police Troop F in Westbrook for DUI charges, police say, when, with the public's assistance, the major investigations unit obtained an arrest warrant for the robbery at at 633 Washington St. 

Fontaine is charged with third-degree robbery, third-degree assault, sixth-degree larceny and second-degree breach of peace. He is being held on a $150,000.00 bond and will appear in Middlesex Superior Court on Monday.
