PD: Worker Stole 2,800 Pounds Crushed Cans Worth $2,240
Middletown Police say a New Britain resident took two bales of crushed aluminum under cover of night from the recycling plant where he worked.
A New Britain man stole 2,800 pounds of crushed aluminum cans from the recycling business where he was employed, according to Middletown Police.
On May 14 at 2:45 p.m., Gerardo Cardoso, 34, of Holmes Avenue, New Britain, was arrested after police say video surveillance showed him stealing more than 2,800 pounds of crushed aluminum cans (two bales) from Thames River Recycling, where he works.
Police say he committed the crime at this Middle Street business overnight while it was closed and the value is estimated at $2,240.
Cardoso was charged with third-degree burglary and third-degree larceny and is due in court May 24.
