A 25-year-old New Britain woman is facing assault, burglary, larceny and other charges after Middletown Police say she broke into her ex-boyfriend's home and "tagged" every room with yellow spray paint.

On Nov. 27 at 5:41 p.m., police were called to the Ridgefield Apartments about Rachael Andrade, 25, of Day Street, New Britain, who reportedly used spray paint to "tag" her ex-boyfriend's apartment, according to the report.

The home, which he shares with his new girlfriend, was ransacked with missing items, the report says, and yellow paint was sprayed in every room and on furniture and clothing.

Police say the girlfriend's pink laundry basket filled with dirty clothes was missing along with a Playstation 3, video games, plates, bowls, blankets, an iron, toaster and $300 in cash.

At 7:30 p.m., Andrade showed up at police headquarters, admitted to causing the damage because she was upset, according to the report.

A records search turned up an outstanding warrant from August.

Andrade was charged with third-degree assault, disorderly conduct, third-degree burglary, two counts of first-degree criminal mischief and fifth-degree larceny. She was released on a $5,000 bond and is due back in Middletown Superior Court on Jan. 17 at 10 a.m.

Will this woman get the mental help she needs while working to pay restitution? Or will she just be tossed in a cell?

As the "new girlfriend" I would just like everyone to know that it's been over 4 months now and absolutely NOTHING has been done. Great system we have here!
