PD: Woman, 47, Pilfered $44 Worth of Febreze from Rite Aid

Middletown Police say a city woman who's been convicted of several petty crimes around Connecticut in the last eight years hid air fresheners in her backpack.

A 47-year-old woman with a record of convictions for petty crimes was picked up again earlier this month after Middletown Police say she shoplifted $44 worth of air fresheners from a drug store.

On Nov. 8 at 11:05 a.m., police were called to Rite Aid Pharmacy on Main Street by a loss prevention officer who witnessed Melissa Frierson, 47, of Rose Circle conceal multiple containers of Febreze aerosol air fresheners in her backpack and leave the store without paying, according to the report.

Police say the merchandise was worth $44.44.

She was charged with sixth-degree larceny.

Frierson has three convictions, according to the Connecticut Judicial Branch website: first-degree reckless endangerment from June in Hartford, sixth-degree larceny in East Windsor from September 2012, second-degree breach of peace from 2006 in Manchester and third-degree assault in 2005 from New Britain.
