PD: Woman Found Asleep in Running Car Had Pot

Middletown Police say a 22-year-old Massachusetts resident refused to cooperate several times with authorities.

SECOND-DEGREE STRANGULATION, THIRD-DEGREE ASSAULT, THIRD-DEGREE CRIMINAL MISCHIEF — On Feb. 2 at 11 p.m., Alexis Ortiz, 25, of Rose Circle was arrested on an outstanding warrant.

VIOLATION OF PROTECTIVE ORDER — On Feb. 2 at 5:17 p.m., police received a 911 hang-up. Inside, a woman said William Rodriguez, 44, of Saybrook Road had left but police found him hiding behind the shower curtain. The report says he admitted to a verbal fight.

SECOND-DEGREE BREACH OF PEACE, CRIMINAL MISCHIEF — On Feb. 2 at 6:11 p.m., a victim police police she had broken up with her girlfriend, Leilani Callands, 21, of Berlin Street, and when Callands was supposed to be waiting for a cab, she returned and put her foot in the doorway, preventing the victim from shutting it. She then punched and kicked the victim, chased her around the house and threw her $1,300 laptop on the ground, breaking it. Two witnesses confirmed the story.

SECOND-DEGREE FAILURE TO APPEAR, SECOND-DEGREE HARASSMENT — On Feb. 2 at 1:04 p.m., Benjamin F. Flood Jr., 27, of Prospect Street turned himself in on an outstanding warrant.

OPERATION MOTOR VEHICLE WHEN LICENSE IS SUSPENDED — On Feb. 1, Sean P. Sokolsoki, 29, of Farm Hill Road was driving on Washington Street without a seatbelt. His license was suspended Aug. 10, 2011.

OPERATION MOTOR VEHICLE WHEN REGISTRATION IS SUSPENDED — On Jan. 30 at 2:41 p.m., Rachael Tremblay, 25, of Beach Road, Higganum, was driving a Jeep Cherokee on Main Street. She told officers it was her boyfriend’s car and didn’t know it was unregistered.

OPERATION MOTOR VEHICLE WHEN REGISTRATION IS SUSPENDED — On Jan. 28 at 8:17 p.m., Robert Peterson, 64, of Main Street was driving a Geo on Washington Street. He told police he didn’t know it was unregistered.

INTERFERING WITH AN OFFICER, POSSESSION OF LESS THAN ONE-HALF OUNCE CANNABIS — On Jan. 27 at 12:23 p.m., police were called to the Court Street garage for an Infinity I30 with no one inside and the engine running. Police found a woman, Sevrine Charles, 22, of Woodlawn Street, Everett, Mass., sleeping in the driver’s seat with the seat lowered all the way. Police smelled marijuana inside as she told them her brother was in court and she was waiting for him, shut the door and went back to sleep. The officer knocked on the window again and asked where the marijuana was and she denied smoking it and tried to shut the door again. Police say she refused to give her name and date of birth, only that she was from Haiti. The report says while looking through her purse, police saw a credit card with her name on it. Police say she was acting erratic even after her brother returned.

USE OF DRUG PARAPHERNALIA, AND POSSESSION OF LESS THAN ONE-HALF OUNCE CANNABIS — On Jan. 25 at 8:08 p.m., Benjamin Leavitt, 31, of Powder Hill Road, Middlefield, was the front passenger in an Infinity driving on Lincoln Street down the middle of the road, rolled through the stop sign and onto Pearl Street. Once stopped, two of the three passengers looked like they were hiding something, police say, and they found a burnt spoon and two capped needles in a sunglasses case in Leavitt’s pocket, a straw and some burnt marijuana (.1 gram) in a pipe. He had multiple narcotics charges from California on his record, police say.
