A 58-year-old city woman is facing a DUI charge after Middletown Police say she patronized a fast-food restaurant drive-through window while intoxicated, hitting the building with her car, and falling asleep at the wheel.
On Aug. 8 at 10:13 p.m., police were called to on Washington Street for an intoxicated woman who tried to drive away, according to the report. Once there, police saw a Nissan Altima stopped in the drive-through lane at the pick-up window, with Lynne Fitzpatrick of Washington Street in the passenger seat, police say.
The manager told officers Fitzpatrick's car had hit the building while proceeding through the drive-through, and, according to the report, she had fallen asleep at the wheel. Officers discovered her sleeping when they arrived, and, the report says, she admitted to taking several medications, but not to drinking alcohol.
She failed two sobriety tests, officers say, and Fitzpatrick admitted to smoking marijuana earlier in the evening, the report indicates. At headquarters at 11:17 p.m., police say, she denied her rights to an attorney and submitted two urine samples for testing. Fitzpatrick's daughter drove her home.
She was charged with driving under the influence.
