PD: Woman, 27, Drugged Teen's Iced Tea for Tryst With 16-Year-Old

A 27-year-old woman is facing allegations she slipped sleeping pills into a teen's drink in order to sleep with a 16-year-old boy in her apartment, according to Middletown Police.

On Oct. 15 at 8:15 a.m., Danielle L. Heinig, 27, of Filley Road, Haddam, turned herself in on an outstanding warrant from Middletown Police.

On Sept. 9 at 3 p.m., according to the police report, the mother of a 16-year-old boy said Heinig, who had moved into a floor of their South Main Street, Middletown, home in July, sexually assaulted her son after giving him four sleeping pills. After speaking with the boy on Sept. 10, the officer determined there was no sexual assault, according to the report.

On Aug. 25 at about 10:30 p.m., the victim said, Heinig gave the boy a glass of iced tea while he was fixing a door, which he didn't drink. At midnight she called him into the kitchen and told him to drink the tea, but when he declined, she reportedly challenged him to a chugging contest with her drinking water because she had run out of iced tea.

He drank the drink, which he told detectives tasted awful, but he didn't want to hurt Heinig's feelings. About 20 minutes later, the boy testified, he fell instantly asleep and didn't wake up until 2-3 p.m. and felt groggy for a half-hour.

In July, the mother told police, her son asked if his friend Heinig could stay in their home because she was being kicked out of her sister's place, according to the report. In August, the report says, a boy the same age as her son came over and played video games with Heinig in her bedroom until 10 p.m.

The next morning, the mother told police Heinig was due in court early for giving heroin to a "kid" she was dating, the report says, and the mother was giving her a ride.

The mother told officers she went toward Heinig's room and was warned several times not to enter, but then saw the 16-year-old boy lying naked in Heinig's bed and soon after the two of them lying together. The mother also said her own son failed to awaken at the normal time.

Later, the report says, the mother found a note from the victim in Heinig's room that indicated he was her fiancé and referenced them drinking, having intercourse and marrying her, in addition to an empty bottle of liquor, according to the report. The mother also taped together a ripped-up note that referenced Heinig slipping her son 4 Trazodone pills (antidepressants that cause drowsiness) and when confronted, Heinig admitted to giving him one, the report says. The next day, she moved out.

The report indicated police went to the home of the victim from Heinig's sexual assault case and he admitted to sleeping with her but denied drinking alcohol.

Police say on Sept. 23 they interviewed Heinig and she admitted slipping four Trazodone pills into the son's iced tea but added she had taken three before herself and knew they wouldn't harm him, according to the arrest warrant, and had done so in order to sneak her 16-year-old boyfriend into the house.

She is charged with illegally supplying drugs, illegal distribution of poison and second-degree reckless endangerment.

In June, Heinig was arrested by Connecticut State Police Troop F in Westbrook for a June 14 incident on charges of second-degree sexual assault, risk of injury to a child and illegal sexual contact with a victim, according to the Connecticut Judicial Branch website.

Both cases have been continued to Oct. 21 in Middletown Superior Court.
