A 22-year-old Wesleyan University student is facing trespassing and breach of peace charges after school security, alerted by an alarm, found him unclothed and intoxicated in the sauna.
On Oct. 30 at 12:10 p.m., police were called to the Wesleyan University Freeman Athletic Center for a trespasser after public safety officers found a male student in the pool area there, according to the report.
Paul G. Lowther, 22, of Fountain Avenue had tripped the alarm, alerting public safety officers, who found him naked in the sauna and uncooperative, refusing to give his name, the report says, and running away from them at “full speed.”
Police say he appeared to be intoxicated and said, “If I had a baton, I would beat you with it.” After officers told him he was under arrest, the report indicates, “Lowther became very cooperative and apologetic.”
He refused to give the names of others who had been with him, saying only he was “invited there for a pool party.”
He was charged with breach of peace and first-degree criminal trespass.
