PD: 'Unclothed Man' Arrested For Driving While Intoxicated

Middletown Police say the suspect's jeans were inexplicably around his ankles when they stopped him after he drove over a curb at 2 a.m.

The following police reports come from the Middletown Police public information officer. Individuals named here reflect charges filed, never a conviction.

A 40-year-old man stopped for driving his car erratically at 2 a.m. was found with his pants around his ankles and smelling heavily of alcohol, according to Middletown Police.

On Oct. 11 at 1:56 a.m., police saw Steven J. Davignon, 40, of Thomas Street driving a Toyota Corolla near North Main Street at Hartford Avenue then go over a curb, according to the report.

Police say he was "not clothed" and his jeans were at his ankles and he smelled of alcohol. When the officer asked why he was naked, the report says, Davignon said he was at Mad Murphy's Restaurant and had a couple beers earlier.

His eyes were bloodshot and glossy, police say, and his speech slurred and slow.

Davignon was asked to step outside the car and "clothe himself," the report says, and to do so, he had to lean continuously on his car. Police say he failed two out of three sobriety tests and his blood alcohol levels were .2171 and .2034. His fiancé picked him up after his arrest.

He was charged with failure to drive in the proper lane and driving while intoxicated.
