PD: Middletown Armed Robbery Suspect Caught in New York

Police say an 18-year-old who attempted a street robbery, leaving a victim with a stab wound to his leg, was nabbed by New York City Port Authority eight days later.

A city man who attempted a robbery with a fake gun and ended up stabbing the victim was caught by New York Port Authority and returned to Middletown, according to police.

The robbery took place on May 22, near Pearl and Erin streets, and as police responded to a fight between two men, they discovered the victim said Tevin Perry, 18, of Spring Street, approached him looking for money, according to the report.

The victim said Perry had a fake gun which he was able to get from Perry in a struggle, according to police, but then Perry pulled out a knife and stabbed the victim in the leg.

Witnesses alerted the men that police had been called so both fled the area, according to the report. Police say the victim didn't realize he had been stabbed and went home, where he then called for an ambulance.

The victim knew his attacker, police say, and identified him in a photo lineup, allowing police to obtain a warrant. On May 30, he was found in New York City by the Port Authority. Perry waived extradition, allowing him to be returned by detectives to Middletown on May 31, according to the report.

Perry was charged with first-degree robbery, breach of peace, attempt to commit a crime and second-degree assault.
