PD: Name-Calling Brother Prompts Woman to Stab him With Fork

Middletown Police say the siblings fought after both had been consuming alcohol.

The following police reports come from the Middletown Police public information officer. Individuals named here reflect charges filed, never a conviction.

A 51-year-old city woman is charged with reportedly injuring her brother in retaliation for him insulting her then lying to police about the assault.

On Jan. 16 at 7:16 p.m., Barbara Lugo, 51, of Pearl Street called police to say her brother was at their home refusing to leave, the report says, after they argued and she stuck a fork in his upper arm, sending the brother to Middlesex Hospital.

Lugo told police they had been drinking and her brother was calling her names so she "had enough" and "slapped him with a spoon," the report says, then she pointed to a spoon in the kitchen sink, which officers saw was near a grill fork that was consistent with the victim's injuries.

Lugo was charged with disorderly conduct.
