A 41-year-old intoxicated Newington woman with her three small children in the car collided with a sports utility vehicle then left the scene of the accident, according to Middletown Police.
On Dec. 17 at 7:50 p.m. Pamela Tomlinson, 41, of Webster Court, Newington, driving a dark colored car was involved in a car crash at Washington and Newfield streets, which sideswiped a Chevy Trailblazer and took off, the report says.
Police found a disabled vehicle on Route 9 north a mile south of Exit 19 at 8:50 p.m. with two flat tires and Tomlinson standing outside, the report says. Inside the car were three children, ages 9, 3 and 4 months old.
The report says Tomlinson’s eyes were glassy, speech slurred, and she smelled of alcohol and she denied the accident, saying she was returning from a friend’s house in Middletown.
Police say she admitted to only sipping wine twice hours ago and failed a sobriety test. A breath test registered .110 and .102 percent blood alcohol content, police say.
She was charged with driving under the influence, three counts risk of injury to a child and evading responsibility.
