PD: Mom, 68, Arrested After Scuffle With Daughter Over Necklace

Middletown Police say after the elder was charged, they discovered she had a heart condition and allowed her to stay the evening in the home — in her locked bedroom.

THREE COUNTS FIRST-DEGREE CRIMINAL MISCHIEF — On Feb. 9 at 10:45 p.m., Sean A. Patterson, 21, of Main Street, Portland, was picked up at Old Saybrook Police on three outstanding Middletown arrest warrants.

FAILURE TO DRIVE IN PROPER LANE, OPERATION MOTOR VEHICLE WHEN LICENSE SUSPENDED, FAILURE TO HAVE HEADLAMPS, OPERATE UNREGISTERED VEHICLE, INSURANCE COVERAGE FAILS MINIMUM, IMPROPER USE OF MARKER PLATE, DUI WITH PRIOR CONVICTION — On Feb. 8 at 9:41 p.m., Keith M. Davis, 27, of Plaza Drive was stopped by police on Butternut Street while driving a Acura without an illuminated headlamp. He had no driver’s license but provided police with a social security card and date of birth. Davis was found with an outstanding warrant from a car accident on June 11, 2011.

SECOND-DEGREE FAILURE TO APPEAR — On Feb. 8 at 7 a.m., Jem Jordan, 25, of Otis Street, Hartford, turned himself in on an outstanding warrant.

FOUR COUNTS EVADING RESPONSIBILITY — On Feb. 8 at 3:45 p.m., Silvana Torres Moscoso, 22 of Rembert Street, Wallingford, was picked up at New Britain Superior Court on outstanding warrants from Middletown.

THIRD-DEGREE LARCENY — On Feb. 7, police were sent to Windsor to serve a warrant on Rachel C. Colon, 28, of Maplewood Terrace.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT — On Feb. 7 at 1:01 p.m., Roberta Hughes, 68, of Plaza Drive was involved in a physical domestic with her daughter, who called police. When they arrived, the victim was calm and eating lunch; the mother was on the couch watching TV. The victim, age 45, said Hughes had grabbed her arm after she came home from school and they argued over a broken necklace. The daughter says her mother needs “mental help and should see a doctor” and she was seeing a mental health professional, according to the report, and was “taking all of her medications.” She asked police to remove her mother from the house as she is afraid of her. Hughes told police they had verbally fought and the daughter told her mother to punch her then she hesitated twice when police asked if she hit her daughter. The report says the mother offered to leave for several hours, then police found she has a heart condition. Hughes started crying and asked if she could lock herself in her room as she didn’t think it was safe to drive. Mother and daughter agreed to stay separated for the evening, police say.

OPERATION MOTOR VEHICLE WHEN LICENSE SUSPENDED, INSURANCE COVERAGE FAILS MINIMUM — On Feb. 6 at 8:25 p.m., Angelica Arroyo-Colon, 27, of Union Street, Meriden, was driving a Volvo on Washington Street and stopped by police. She pulled into the Sunoco gas station. She admitted the car wasn’t insured and said her sister gave her the car; she provided police with a signed and dated letter to that effect. The note said it was given to her in December 2011 as a  Christmas gift; Arroyo-Colon said she was waiting for her income tax refund to register and insure the car. Her license, police say, was suspended seven times between Sept. 5, 2010, and Dec. 21, 2011.

INSURANCE COVERAGE FAILS MINIMUM, OPERATE UNREGISTERED VEHICLE — On Feb. 7, Brandon M. Cooper, 19, of Parkview Street, Meriden, was driving on Spring Street with both brake lights half-out and center brake light completely out.

OPERATE UNREGISTERED VEHICLE, INSURANCE COVERAGE FAILS MINIMUM, UNSAFE MOVEMENT — On Feb. 6 at 2:32 p.m., Alexandra B. Zila, 23, of Town Colony Drive was driving a Jeep Patriot on Washington Street and hit a Toyota stopped in front of her when her foot slipped off the brake pedal, police say. Her insurance policy was canceled due to non-payment on Jan. 10.

OPERATION MOTOR VEHICLE WHEN LICENSE SUSPENDED — On Feb. 4 at 7:10 p.m., Natasha Michaud, 30, of Stafford Avenue, Bristol, was driving a Cadillac Seville on Liberty Street, a one-way, one-lane road, and turned onto Pearl then Grand Street. The passenger left the car and tried to walk away when an officer stopped him and failed to step back inside after being asked several times.

OPERATE UNREGISTERED VEHICLE, INSURANCE COVERAGE FAILS MINIMUM, IMPROPER TURN SIGNAL, POSSESSION LESS THAN ONE-HALF OUNCE MARIJUANA — On Feb. 3 at 7 p.m., Ismael Guzman, 47, of Hillside Avenue was driving on Main Street Extension ahead of a police cruiser when he abruptly changed lanes without signaling. He had a canceled registration, police say. The officer said as he approached the car he saw several heads inside “moving from left to right and downward very quickly and Guzman making unnatural movements with his arms. There was a front and rear passenger, police say. A pat-down revealed a baggie with 2 grams of marijuana inside.

SIXTH-DEGREE LARCENY — On Feb. 2 at 3:12 p.m., Gabrielle R. Gunerard, 41, of Congdon Street was at Price Chopper on Washington Street and was seen by store security filling a shopping cart with $17.55 worth of beer (three 30-packs) and groceries and leave without paying. The report says she didn’t have a receipt; and when apprehended by security, struggled and tried to flee. Police were given surveillance tape and when they asked Gunerard why she left without paying, she told them she has a drinking problem and no job.

OPERATION MOTOR VEHICLE WHEN LICENSE SUSPENDED, TINTED WINDOWS — On Feb. 1 at 11:06 p.m., Rondel Chapman, 30, of Grand Street was driving a Ford Taurus on Maple Street with really dark tinted windows. He was also arrested Nov. 21, 2011, for operating with a suspended license.

EVADING RESPONSIBILITY — On Feb. 2, Larry White, 23, of Oak Street was involved in a car accident resulting in property damage either on College or Hubbard Street, differing stories according to the two involved, police say. He fled the scene and one of the drivers, a female who knows White, followed him and alerted a police officer. White drove on South Main at a high rate of speed, police say, and pulled into the McDonalds parking lot. He denied the accident but police say his car had front and rear driver’s side door damage. White said the woman was chasing him and had caused the accident on College Street. The victim said White is her 3-year-old child’s father and she had stopped to confront him on Hubbard Street while driving her cousin home. The cousin pointed out White in his parked car with another woman passenger, the report says; she confronted him and White sideswiped her car. White said the passenger is his girlfriend of the last 10 months and he has no intimate relationship with his child’s mother.

OPERATION MOTOR VEHICLE WHEN LICENSE SUSPENDED, FAILURE TO HAVE TAILLAMPS, FAILURE TO OBEY CONTROL SIGNAL — On Jan. 31 at 9:21 p.m., William Parker, 39, of Third Street, Meriden, was driving a Lexus S300 on Pearl Street with an unlit rear marker plate and stopped ¾ of a car’s length past the stop sign on Washington Street.
