Police, Fire Investigating Second Blaze at Home in Two Months

Middletown Police and Fire are looking into whether the June 18 and Aug. 30 fires at a Maple Place two-story home could be related.

Two minor fires at the same two-story home have Middletown Police and Fire looking into whether the two are connected.

On Thursday at 7:03 a.m., Middletown Police officers and South District firefighters responded to a 911 call at 9 Maple Place, an unoccupied two-family home, for a small interior fire.

This home, built in 1900 and owned, according to the city assessors office, by Maribeth G. Adams, was condemned due to a fire on June 18.

Firefighters extinguished the blaze and investigators are looking into the possibilty that the incidents are connected.

On June 18 at 12:09 p.m., Middletown Police officers and South District firefighters responded to the home after a witness reported seeing smoke coming from the rear door. Investigators determined the fire was intentionally set. Residents have noticed some reconstruction has been done since the June fire.
