A 41-year-old Portland man is behind bars after helping himself to nearly $100 worth of meat at a Middletown supermarket.
On Sept. 25 at 6:58 p.m., police were called to Price Chopper on Washington Street for a shoplifter. Jeremy R. Adams, 41, of Fairview Street, Portland, had entered the store, gone to the meat department, placed $97.37 worth of meat in a red hand basket and left, the report details.
The loss prevention department provided officers with video footage of Adams' actions.
Adams has 17 arrests in Connecticut beginning in 2003, according to Connecticut Judicial Records, including DUI, larceny, narcotics possession, assault, disorderly conduct and failure to appear. Many resulted in jail time.
Adams was charged with sixth-degree larceny. He's being held on a $5,000 bond with an Oct. 9 court date, according to the report.
