PD: Man Threatens to Kill Self, Girlfriend With Pistol to the Head

Middletown Police say they broke up a potentially dangerous domestic violence incident after a woman accused her boyfriend of texting another woman.

A 21-year-old city man is facing multiple charges after Middletown Police say he threatened to kill himself and his girlfriend with a semiautomatic handgun.

On Aug. 15 at 8:48 p.m., Luis A. Garcia of Walnut Street, was involved in a domestic violence incident with his girlfriend, in which, the police report details, he" "placed a Ruger LCP .380 pocket pistol against his head, threatening to kill himself as well as his girlfriend," threw her to the ground and smashed her cell phone so she couldn't call 911.

The fight began, the report details, when she accused him of texting another female and "became irate when she told him to leave their residence." When police got there, he was unarmed but sent to Middlesex Hospital for a psychological evaluation, police report.

He was charged with third-degree criminal mischief, breach of peace, and interfering with an emergency call.
