PD: Man's Body Recovered From Connecticut River

Middletown Police say a kayaker spotted the body floating in the water near the Cromwell town line Saturday morning.

 

The body of an unidentified man was discovered floating in the Connecticut River in Middletown, near the Cromwell line, Saturday morning.

Middletown Police say at 10:40 a.m., dispatch received a call from a kayaker who said she had seen a body floating in the river just south of the Cromwell line adjacent to Route 9 north.

The body was located near shore, but down a steep embankment, which made it impossible for officers to remove him, according to the report.

The Middletown Fire Department also responded to the scene. At 11:30 a.m., firefighters hoisted the body up the embankment to Route 9.

The state chief medical examiner has possession of the body, an initial identification was made, however, police said, his identity is being withheld pending a positive identification.

No foul play is suspected.
