PD: Man Driving Scooter at 3X Legal Limit 'Cried and Whined' When Nabbed

Middletown Police say a 43-year-old Old Saybrook man spit on a man renting a Redbox film after he accused he and his girlfriend of being homeless.

On May 26 at 9:15 p.m., police were called to CVS on Main Street Extension on a threatening complaint in which Timothy Scott, 43, of Orchard Lane, Old Saybrook, allegedly spit on the 911 caller's husband.

The victim was there to rent a Redbox movie, and Scott threatened him, according to the report while appearing drunk. He then left on a scooter, and when police arrived and located Scott, they saw he had bloodshot and glossy eyes and was having trouble putting his kickstand down.

Scott was unsteady on his feet, police say, and "immediately started crying and whining and had to be consoled by his girlfriend," who told officers the dispute arose after the man made a comment about the duo being homeless.
