PD: Man Blamed Innocent Elderly Couple for 'Jumping' Him

Middletown Police say a 22-year-old city man caused two noisy and drunken disturbances in the same evening.

A 22-year-old city man who caused two loud, public drunken scenes within a half-hour of each other told officers the innocent elderly couple just passing by had "jumped" him and "beat him up," according to Middletown Police.

On Jan. 19 at 7:18 p.m., police were called to Wetmore Place about a man yelling and found Kyle C. Wright, 22, of deKoven Drive who was missing a shoe, standing in the street and yelling he had been "jumped and beat up."

The report says police had dealt with him earlier at Melilli Plaza in which he did the same thing. The report says he was intoxicated and indicated that an elderly couple making their way home had jumped him, then detailed an elaborate story about the incident but couldn't identify who had done it.

Police say he admitted to bipolar disorder and hadn't been taking his medication.

He was charged with breach of peace.
