Middletown Police say the man acted irrational, uncooperative and aggressive during the booking process but stopped fighting arrests once his mother encouraged him relent.

A 22-year-old man

On Oct. 25 at 1:08 a.m., Brandon W. Chabot, 22, of no certain address, was seen by officers walking away from a one-car accident on the Arrigoni Bridge on Main Street, according to the report.

Police came upon him while he was holding onto the trunk of his Lexus IS3000 to support himself, the report indicates.

He smelled of alcohol, had bloodshot and glossy eyes and slurred speech, according to the report, so badly the officer couldn't understand him. Chabot then changed his story several times, the report says, saying he had two beers, then three mixed drinks with vodka, then four; then later said four vodkas between 7 and 11 p.m.

He failed sobriety tests, police say, and a prescription bottle with amphetamine salts was found in his pocket. A search revealed a marijuana smoking pipe with residue. The report says during booking he was irrational and aggressive and pugilistic to officers and made suicidal comments.

Police say he was placed in an "emotional disturbed person's cell" but refused to enter and was stripped of his clothing, the report says, down to his boxers, where officers saw he had nipple piercings and a tongue ring. Chabon refused to remove them when officers asked, the report says, so ambulance workers did so.

His mother called the station and when put on speaker phone told Chabon to cooperate, according to the report, and he then complied. His blood alcohol levels were .1554 and .1577.

The report says when officers were helping him onto a stretcher for an emergency exam request at the hospital, he said police were "ruining his life."

Chabon was charged with driving while intoxicated and interfering with an officer.
