PD: Husband's Wandering Eye Prompts Wife's Public Retaliation

Middletown Police say a city couple were arrested for damaging each other's property after the husband ogled other women as the family shopped for groceries.

A city couple's argument over the husband ogling other women while they shopped for groceries with their three children erupted into violence this week, according to Middletown Police.

On Oct. 9 at 5:58 p.m., police were called to the Stop & Shop plaza on East Main Street where Joel R. Martinez, 22, of Daddario Road had broken the windshield of his wife's Ford Explorer in anger, according to the report.

Jolanda Martinez, 26, who was with the couple's three small children according to the report, told police she had smashed her husband's cell phone on the floor after watching him "checking out" other women in the supermarket.

In response, police say, Joel broke his wife's SUV's front window with his elbow and Jolanda walked away with the children, "exasperated."

Damage to the car and phone was estimated to be $200 each, police say, and a protective order was issued.
