PD: Grandchildren No Hindrance to Grandma's Pot Sales

A 54-year-old East Main Street woman is facing drug and risk of injury charges after Middletown Police say she sold marijuana from her home while her 4-year-old granddaughter and 2-month-old grandson were there.

say an East Main Street family of three is facing charges related to the grandmother's marijuana-selling operation while two young children were present in the home.

On June 1, the Middletown street crime and patrol officers served a search warrant at of 233 East Main Street after numerous complaints from residents. Detectives found Jenny Lopez, 54, of 233 East Main St., selling marijuana from her home while her grandchildren were present, according to the report.

Lopez and her 4-year-old granddaughter were discovered at CVS down the street, the report says. Lopez’s son Jonathan Rosa, 21, and husband Noel Rosa, 47, (both of 233 East Main St.) were in the driveway, police say. Inside, detectives found Lopez’s 2-month-old grandson and two other females.

A search revealed 3.86 ounces of marijuana along with a scale and packaging materials hidden in a tin under the kitchen sink. The marijuana was easily accessible to the 4-year-old. Detectives also located a substantial amount of cash in Lopez’s bedroom and the marijuana had an street value of $1,500.

The Department of Children and Families was contacted since Lopez had been selling marijuana with her grandchildren present, the report says. The investigation is ongoing.

Jenny Lopez was arrested for possession of less than 4 ounces of marijuana, and with intent to sell, possession of drug paraphernalia and two counts risk of injury to a minor.

Jonathan Rosa and Noel Rosa were arrested for two counts risk of injury to a minor.
