PD: Felon Steals $330 in Goods From Marshalls, Stop & Shop

Middletown Police say a 57-year-old Cromwell woman helped herself to items from the city's department and grocery stores in reusable shopping bags.

 

A 57-year-old convicted felon was caught shoplifting more than $330 worth of goods from two stores in an East Main Street shopping plaza, according to Middletown Police.

On Oct. 1 at 4:11 p.m., police were called to Stop & Shop on East Main Street on a larceny. Rhona Resigna, 57, of Mountain Laurel Court, Cromwell, entered the store at 3:30 p.m., the report says, walk around the store for 30 minutes and place items in her reusable shopping bags then leave without paying.

The value, the report says, of the stolen items, caught on videotape, was $128.73. The report says a Marshalls bag was found with $204.14 worth of merchandise and Resigna told the loss prevention officer she had not paid for them either.

According to the Connecticut Judicial website, she is a convicted felon with multiple arrests for larceny and on probation.

Resigna was charged with sixth-degree larceny.
