PD: Felon on Probation Stole $100 Worth of Monster Drinks from Grocery Store

The Rocky Hill resident, who has shoplifted in the past, loaded up a carriage with Monster energy cans and left Stop & Shop without paying, Middletown Police say.

A 35-year-old city man is charged with robbery and shoplifting after police say he struggled with a store security officer then made off with nearly $100 worth of energy drinks.

On Nov. 11 at 1:17 p.m., police were called to Stop & Shop on East Main Street in Middletown about a man loading up a shopping car with Monster energy drinks and walk out without paying and when the loss prevention officer tried to stop him, according to the report, Justin P. McNally, 35, of Dogwood Court, Rocky Hill, pushed him, ripped his sweatshirt and knocked his glasses off his head.

Police found McNally in front of the Dollar Store nearby, the report says, and the witness identified him. The energy drinks, worth $97.86, were recovered.

McNally, who was charged with sixth-degree larceny and third-degree robbery, according to the report is a felon who is on probation. The Connecticut Judicial Branch website indicates McNally has two convictions for sixth-degree larceny in Hartford from 2012 and 2013.
