PD: East Hartford Man Had Over Pound of Pot, Seeds in Car

Middletown Police say a traffic violation stop let them to a marijuana factory bounty hidden all over an East Hartford man's car.

 

An East Hartford man is facing a slew of drug factory-related charges after he was found with more than a pound of marijuana and seeds hidden in bags throughout his car, according to .

On April 1 at 9:04 p.m., Carlos Clarke, 27, of Elida Court, East Hartford, was seen by police parking a Toyota on Pearl Street with the rear of the car in the intersection of Liberty Street.

Clarke told the officer he and his girlfriend were talking and the officer smelled marijuana so Clarke handed over a half-smoked marijuana cigarette, according to the report.

Police searched the woman and found a baggie of marijuana; then found a bag of marijuana in the car, several bags filled with marijuana seeds, and a white plastic bag with two large bags of marijuana, the report details.

Clarke denied it was his, according to police. In the passenger compartment, more seeds were found; in the trunk of the car, police found several more bags of marijuana, a scale and six working cell phones.

At headquarters, the report says, Clarke was found with $376 in cash. The total weight of marijuana was 18.39 ounces. He was also given a parking ticket for parking within 25 feet of an intersection, the report says.

He was charged with possession, illegal sale of and distribution of withing 1,500 feet of school of a controlled substance; use of and possession of drug paraphernalia in a drug factory, and non-student possessing drugs near school.
